Lakelyn's 2 month update

Little Lakelyn is growing so fast! It's hard to believe she has been in our arms for two months now!! She is such a little sweetheart and is growing bigger everyday! Here are a few highlights at two months old:

~She rolls over from belly to back...she started this at 5 weeks old!
~Her favorite way to be held is looking over your shoulder so she can see the world.
~She loves it when you talk to her and most the time she "talks" back. Her favorite things to say are "Hi" and "I good."
~She LOVES to eat, but has actually started nursing every four hours...most of the time.
~She only wakes to eat once during the night so we are both getting plenty of sleep!
~Her favorite time of day is first thing in the morning and about 7:00 in the evening...she is always ready to play at those times.
~She loves it when Avery and Oakley talk to her...they can always put a huge grin on her face.
~She still hates her baths!!
~She doesn't mind having some quite time by herself during the day to just lay and look around.
~She seems to be adjusting to daycare fine and Mommy is doing pretty well too! ;)
~At her 8 week wellness check up she was 12 lbs and was 21 in long
~Sadly a lot of her hair has fallen out...thankfully she had a lot when she was born so we still have plenty to put bows in!!
~She loves for me to sing to her Jesus Loves Me and Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)
~She really likes her swing, but she LOVES being held...and we really don't mind holding her! In fact, it seems like there is always someone in this house wanting to hold the baby!

And here are a few photos I took of our little beauty at 2 months old! Of course I couldn't get her to smile for life of me when I was taking these, but I still think they are pretty darn cute!

To My Children

Forever Young by Bob Dylan has always been one of my favorite songs. In fact a few years ago I found a childrens book Bob Dylan wrote call Forever Young as well and what a great book it is! I want to dedicate this song to my children. Whenever I hear it I always think about them and how I hope they grow up to be strong, full of faith, happy, to stand up for what they believe in, to be open minded, to respect ALL people no matter what race, origin or religion, always make time to play, to be courageous, to love with all their heart, follow their dreams and above all to love GOD! Here are the words and below you can hear the original being sang by Bob Dylan.

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

Avery's First Race!

Last weekend Avery's school had a Family Fun Run as a fundraiser. Avery said she wanted to run it with me so I signed us up. It was just a 2K, but I figured that was perfect for Avery's first race and my first one since having Lakelyn. It called for rain that morning, but we were hoping that it would hold off until the race was over...that didn't happen. As we were standing at the start line waiting for the race to begin it began to pour down! Needless to say we got soaked! Not too long after we took off it slowed up and eventually stopped, but we ran that race completely soaked to the bone! Avery was such a trooper and I am so proud of her! I told her we would go her pace and walk when she wanted to walk (which was not often and when she did it was only for a few steps and then she was ready to take off again.) I think I got a little runner on my hands! I hope this is something that we can continue to do together!

Just a few random pictures

There is never a quite moment at our house..in fact it is pretty much chaos at all times! However, I wouldn't trade it for the world!! Here is a few random pictures of what has been going on at our home...

"Baby Baby" Smiling!

What a Big Girl she is already!!

Let me explain this pic...Jason and I hear Oakley singing and we walk into the living room to find him rocking back and forth in Lakelyn's car seat singing Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show. If you are not familiar with this song it goes like this, "Rock me momma like a wagon wheel, rock me momma any way you feel, hey momma rock me, rock me momma like the wind and the rain, rock me momma like a south-bound train, hey momma rock me." It's his favorite song!

I was looking for my phone the other day and I found this on on hook!

One of the sunflowers we grew.

Lakelyn just a swingin'

"Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move mountains!"
This is how I found Avery one evening after her bath...curled up on the couch, sound asleep with 3 headbands in her hair!

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend was spent camping at the creek as usual. It was beautiful weather, time spent with GREAT friends, lots of good food, and much needed relaxation! Although, I will admit Lakelyn and I skipped out on the camping part. It got a little cool at night for us. However, Jason, Avery and Oaks toughed it out in the tent at night. They had about 5 blankets/sleeping bags and cuddled up together they said they never once got cold. Labor Day and Memorial Day Weekends are some of my favorite weekends all year. It is so sad when it is over. In fact, I told my Mom that you would think the older I get the easier it would be when everyone packs up on Monday, but it is still just as sad as it was when I was a kid! She said it is the same way for her as well. I look so forward to those weekends and they go by way too fast. Once again it was wonderful to see all our old friends and I already can't wait for Memorial Day! Peace, Love and Roundstone!

Summer Fun

Just a few snapshots from our summer...
Lakelyn Smiles

Avery fed Lakelyn her first bottle before she started daycare.

Avery learned to ride her bike with no training wheels and only in underwear...I swear I can't keep clothes on my kids in the summer!

Oaks cried because he still has to have training wheels.

Great Mamaw and Great Papaw with Lakelyn

Oakley hanging out by the pool after a fun day of swimming!

Not sure what Avery and Oaks were doing here...just hanging out by the hot tub making faces at each other I guess.

Playing with their cousin Larkin

Avery doing flips into the pool!

Lakelyn spent many family gatherings being held by Sissy (her cousin Kaitlynn.) I think they were both pretty much okay with that!

Jason up at bat in a game of Wiffle Ball at Jen and Casey's

Jen about to knock one past Jason!

Lakelyn in her most favorite place! I LOVE this wrap!!

Oakley's 3 year update

I can't believe my baby boy is three years old! It seems like yesterday that he was Lakelyn's size...where does the time go?!?! Jason and I left the girls at Nana and Papaw's Sunday night so that we could go take Oakley's pictures. Usually he hates pictures, but he was so excited to be the only one with Mommy and Daddy that he didn't even care! It really reminds me of how important it is to always take the time to have one on one time with each of my children. He had a blast and so did Mommy and Daddy. Oaks has such a sweet heart and it is moments when it is just me and him that it really shines through!

So here is what Oakley is up to at 3 years old:
~He can be quite mischievous! Maybe this is just a boy thing, but he gets into more stuff than Avery ever did! He pulls out more toys, destroys my house in 3 seconds flat, and always trying to mess with things that he is not suppose to. It is impossible to clean house when he is at home!
~He still wakes up 2 to 3 times a night most nights...I am beginning to think that he will NEVER sleep through the night. Lakelyn honestly sleeps better than he does!
~He LOVES to play with his big sister. Their new favorite game to play together is hide and seek. It is so cute to watch him hide his eyes and count when it is his turn to be "it."
~He can count all the way to 20 but will rarely do it when I ask him too! You have to catch him doing it when he is sitting by himself and he doesn't know you are listening.
~He LOVES his little sister. He makes sure to kiss Lakelyn every morning and evening before he goes to bed. He calls her "baby baby" in the cutest little voice I have ever heard.
~He is quite the little country boy! He loves bulls, trucks, wagons, 4-wheelers, tractors and going to the tobacco patch with Daddy. The other day Great Papaw let him help drive the tractor while they were loading the tobacco and he thought that was the greatest thing. He already tells me he is going to be a farmer like Daddy and Papaw...and I always tell him that is fine, but you have to go to college first! ;)
~He also loves dump trucks, backhoes, trackhoes and any other big machinery. Jason took him to work the other day and let him ride on some of the big equipment. Oaks loved every minute of it.
~Trains are also another one of his favorite things! The other day we were in Glendale and we let him play on the little train that is across the tracks from the Whistle Stop. He had a blast! That night as we were putting him to bed he told Jason, "Thank you for taking me to the fake train today Daddy."
~He also has the most tender heart. One minute he is bouncing around, being an rambunctious little boy and 2 seconds later, out of the blue, he will come give me a big hug and kiss and say, "I love you mama." It melts my heart every time!
~Oaks is also our cuddly one. He still loves for Jason and I to hold him and lay with him. If one of us is laying on the couch he will climb right up there with us just to cuddle.
~When he is sleepy he runs his fingers though his blanket. Jason's mom says Jason use to do the same thing as a little boy.
~When he get's in trouble he cries for Papaw or Papa. I have never seen a little boy so crazy about his Papaw and Papa!
~When he doesn't get his way he throws the biggest tantrums that I have ever seen!
~His favorite animal is a shark (at the moment.)
~He can't wait to play baseball and talks about all the time!
~His favorite word to use is actually and he uses it all the time!
~He always says the funniest things...the other day he pointed at Lakelyn's bellybutton and wanted to know where her "root" went. Try explaining an umbilical cord to a 3 year old!
~He has such a sweet tooth...he loves candy, pudding, cake...just about anything sweet! However, he is also a great eater. He loves tomatoes, broccoli and green beans and will eat about anything I make.
~And last but not least he loves Allie Link! He talks about her all the time and will tell you that she is his girlfriend!
