Us = Love

Oaks is FOUR!

My little "Oak Tree" is four years old and what a handsome little four year old he is!  It seems like he went from a little toddler to a little boy over night.
~Oakley has the biggest imagination I have ever seen!  He can tell you the most amazing stories and he loves to pretend to be someone else.  Sometimes he is Jason, sometimes he is Big John from The High Chaparral, sometimes he is Batman or Spiderman...you just never know what role he is going to play each day.
~He loves to help Daddy on the farm.  In fact he turned down a trip to Blazers the other day to stay and help Papaw and Daddy haul in tobacco.  I think we have a little farmer on our hands.
~His favorite song is Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show and he wants to listen to it all the time!  His next favorite song is Big Green Tractor.  You can always catch him singing one of the two.  He loves music and has a little guitar that he tries to play.  We have a good friend, Zack, who can play and Oakley says he is going to play with him when he gets big.  Guess we should start guitar lessons!!
~He loved playing baseball this year and talks about it all the time.  He was still pretty timid out on the field, but I think he really had fun.
~He is still quite shy around people he doesn't know and sticks close to me when in public.  With that said, he is a completely wild, loud, mischievous and rambunctious little boy at home!  We laugh and say he must hold it in all day so when he gets home he just has to let it all out!!
~Jason describes Oakley as "meaner than a snake but scared of his own shadow" and it is so true.  He is ALWAYS up to something at home, picking on the girls and always ready to wrestle and fight, but he will not go downstairs, outside or even in another room by himself.  He wants someone with him at all times...not to mention he has to sleep with his lamp on.
~He has the sweetest heart.  When we tuck him in at night and say his prayers he always thanks God for his entire family (Grandparents, Aunt, Uncles and Cousins) by name and then he tells Jason and I that we are the best Mommy and Daddy.  It is so sweet!!
~Oakley looks up to and loves his older cousins Chandler and Kyle.  In fact I think he would move in with his Aunt Jen and Uncle Casey if we would let him!! He loves all of their big boy toys!!
~He also LOVES to go to his Nana and Papaw's and Gran and Papa's!
~He can also be very stubborn and can throw the biggest fits you have ever seen!!
~Oakley keeps up laughing everyday!  He is always doing something to bring a smile to our face!!

Laklyn's One Year Pictures

What a year!  It has gone by so fast and it is so amazing to me the changes a baby makes in just one year!  Lakelyn has gone from a tiny, helpless chubby little baby to a walking, talking, chubby little girl!!  Here are a few things Miss Lakelyn is up to these days.
~Lakelyn can say Dada, Mama, her own version of Avery and Oakley, Nana, something kind of like Gran, What's that, Love you, this, Thank you, Kitty Cat, and many other things when she feels like it.  She jabbers all the time! She also moo's like a cow, barks like a dog, quacks like a duck, and meow's like a cat.
~Speaking of talking.....when Avery and Oakley were little most the time they would sit though church and not say a word...Lakelyn is whole other story.  Almost every Sunday we have to take her out of church and to the nursery.
~She love to give kisses and hugs and she gives the tightest hugs ever!!
~Playing and trying to keep up with Avery and Oaks is her favorite pastime!
~She eats ALL the time.....there is not much she wont eat!
~At her last doc appt she weighed 23lb.
~Lakelyn took her first step one week before her first birthday, but she didn't really start walking until about 13 1/2 months.  She has just now started walking full time instead of crawling and she will be 14 months this week.
~She is still a very happy and content little girl and she still has no fear of strangers.  She will go to anyone.....which is a little scary to me!  ;)
~She loves music and will dance whenever she hears it.
~Avery and Oakley can make her scream louder than anyone!!  (Especially when they are messing with her and she doesn't want them to.)
~She LOVES to brush her teeth.  In fact you have to keep a close eye on your toothbrush around here because if she gets a hold of it you can bet she is going to use it!
~She really likes her pacifier!  Any tips on weaning her from it are greatly appreciated!!
~She is NOT a fan of whole milk
~Avery and Oakley can always make her laugh!
~The longer her hair gets the more curls she gets.
~She loves to ride her tricycle!  While she sits on it, Avery push her around.  Lakelyn would ride for hours if Avery kept pushing!
~She is a great sleeper.....much better than her big brother!  She usually goes to bed around 8:00pm and will sleep until 7:30 or 8:00am.
~Lakelyn loves to be home.....she is a lot like Oakley is that aspect.  They are both homebodies!
~She has 12 teeth and two more that just poked through.
~She is such a little climber.....we really have to watch her.  She loves to climb in and out of chairs!!
~Lakelyn also HATES hairbows which is a very sad thing to me!!  She can't stand to have something in her hair, not even a rubber band.  It is a fight to keep one in her hair...she is constantly trying to pull them out.  I think I am going to have to start gluing them in!! haha!
~And....she FINALLY likes her bath!!

This is the outfit I made for Lakelyn's first birthday party!  It was a lot of work, but I was so excited how it turned out.  I wish I had a better picture of the bow on the back and the ruffles on her butt, but you can kind of see them in one of the pictures.

Her curls!

Ruffled butt!!

She is sitting on the blanket her Gran made her.
