Our Family

Here is the baby collage I did for Lakelyn. Avery and Oakley both have one so I had to do one for her as well. I had my Dad come over and attempt to take some pictures of all five of us for the center photo. My Dad takes the pictures while my Mom tries her hardest to make sure all the kids are smiling and looking at the camera. It's not easy taking family pictures with 3 small kids, but somehow between all of us begging and pleading he manage to get a few good ones. Thanks so much Dad!! Mom and Dad, you are the best...especially at putting up with me when I am frantic and totally stressing out...for some reason family pictures do that to me! ;)

Lakelyn's One Month Old

It is hard to believe that Miss Lakelyn is already one month old. She has already change so much since her arrival in July. Sometimes I just want to freeze these moments in time...stay in this place forever. But then again, I can't wait to watch her grow, change and turn into a beautiful little girl, teenager, and someday an adult. I look forward to watching all my children grow up and the fun that we will have through the years.

So, what has Lakelyn been up to this past month...

~She is gaining weight like crazy! She is starting to get a double chin and lots of fat rolls! Gotta love chunky little babies!
~She is starting to "talk" quite a bit. She goo's and gah's a lot and is also saying "I good."
~She loves to be talked too, in fact this is usually when she decides to "talk" as well.
~She is smiling more and more now. There is nothing like looking down at your beautiful baby you are holding and then she gives you the biggest grin! You can tell she is just so happy to be in my arms!
~She is still eating about every 3 hours during the day and going about 5 hours at night. I must say it is nice only having to get up once during the night!
~She likes her tummy time and has been holding her head up like a pro for several weeks now. She loves checking everything out and looking at this big world!
~She loves to be held on your chest overlooking your shoulder. This must be were she gets her best view when she is awake and the most comfortable spot for her to lay her head when she is asleep.
~She is a VERY content baby. The only time she seems to cry is when she is hungry, needs to burp or is taking a bath.
~Speaking of baths...she still pretty much hate's them!
~She loves it when her big sister an brother talk to her, give her kisses, and holds her!
~She still has most of her dark hair, but she is now getting a receding hair line!
~She is pretty much a Mommy's girl...a lot of times no one else will do, but I am sure this stems from the fact that I am her only food source at the moment!
~And just today at 5 weeks old Miss Lakelyn rolled from Belly to Back for the first time!!! Jason, Avery, Oakley and myself were all there to see it and we were all cheering her on!

Here are just a few of her One Month pics I took!

A day with Mommy

Oakley had his 3 year check up this past week. After we left the appointment he asked, "Mommy, I go home with you...I not want to go to pre-school." Well, how could I resist that sweet little voice. So we headed home for a day with just Mommy, Oakley and Lakelyn. Since Lakelyn still sleeps a lot during the day Oaks and I had quite a bit of time together. We played outside on the slip-n-slide for awhile and I got a chance to take several pics of Oakley just being himself.

Oakley's 3rd Birthday Party!

I can't believe we just celebrated my baby boy's third birthday! He was so excited about his birthday party this year! It was all he talked about for weeks. He kept telling us he wanted an "alligator" (a ride on Gator) for his birthday and a Thomas Cake. He loved telling and showing everyone with his fingers that he was going to be three! He told me a few days before his birthday party that all his friends were going to come, he would blow out candles, eat cake, and then sing "Happy Birthday to Oakley" (he sang this part to me!) It was so cute!! He had so much fun at his party and it was so awesome to see his little eyes light up with excitement. When it was time to blow the candles out he told me, "Mommy, put that fire on the cake!" I still can't believe he is three, but he sure is an amazing little three year old!

Here are pics from his party...3 year old pics and a 3 year update are coming soon!
He was so excited when he saw his Gator!

Look at that excited little face...being a Mommy doesn't get much better than this!!!

My little sweetheart! Don't you just want to kiss those little cheeks?!?!?

Playing with Lakelyn

The other morning we were getting ready for church and I walked out of the bathroom and found all three of my kids laying under Lakelyn's play mat. Avery and Oakley love to play with her and if she is laying in floor you can almost bet that they are going to join her! Avery loves to lay and talk to Lakelyn...Oakley is more interested in playing with her toys! However, he does make sure to give her LOTS of kisses!

Cecilia Day's

Jason's uncle, Dwight Morgan, is running for Magistrate and asked us if we would ride on his float in the Cecilia Day's parade. The kids think it is so much fun to be in a parade and throw out candy! It was pretty hot that day, but we still had a good time! So if you live in the 7th District "Join the Fight, Elect Dwight!"
Daddy and Oaks

Lakelyn's first parade! She slept through the entire thing!

Jason, Avery, Chandler, and Oakley ready to go!

Swimming at Grandma's

All of Jason's aunts live out of town, but they come in every August and we all get together at his Grandma's and Grandpa's. The kids absolutely love going to Grandma and Grandpa's to play in the pool and it is always nice to visit with family!
Avery and Daddy playing in the pool.

Grady doing back flips.

Chandler jumping in!

Oakley hanging out in the pool...excuse his boo boo...he fell down the front porch step and scraped his head on the concrete. He is all boy!!

Lakelyn's first visit to Grandma's and Grandpa's! She spent most of her visit asleep in someone's arms!

Jason's Aunt's and cousin's stopped by to visit us one evening while they were in.

Lakelyn's First Bath!

Lakelyn's umbilical cord fell off when she was about two and a half weeks old and she got to take her first real bath. She wasn't much on the sponge baths we had been giving her so I was not expecting her to love the tub bath and my guess was right. She absolutely hated it! Of course I had to document it...her screaming and all!!

Lakelyn has an umbilical hernia just like Avery and Oakley did. Avery had to have surgery at 3 to have hers fixed. Oaks' repaired itself...so we are keeping our fingers crossed that Lakelyn's does too.

There's nothing like old Friends!

One of the greatest things about my childhood is the friends that I was raised with. I was so blessed to have an amazing group of people that I grew up with...we call ourselves the creek kids. I am even more blessed that the same group of people are still a very important part of my life. Us "creek kids" go way back! The hard part is now that we are older we live all over the place and a few of them I am lucky to even see once a year. Rarely are we all together at the same time. Richard is in the military and lives in Washington state. We hardly ever see him and in fact I have only met his wife once and have never met his beautiful 2 year old little boy. However, he was able to come home a few weeks ago before he heads out on another 6 month tour to Iraq. I honestly don't know how Kandis (his wife) does it while Richard is gone. I could not imagine!! Luckily, while he was home my sister, Katie and best friend, Alison (another friend from my childhood) brought him by the house to meet little Miss Lakelyn. We had such a good time catching up and as always Alison and Richard had us laughing all evening! Not to mention, Avery and Oaks had a blast playing with them!!! Between Aunt Kat, Alison and Richard they kept the kiddo's completely entertained. When they left that evening I honestly cried! We have had so much fun together though out the years and I always hate to see our visits come to an end. You never know when you might get another evening with them.

Alison, I hope we don't go as long between visits this time! I love ya!!

Richard, Thank you for what you do for our country! May God be with you and protect you and bring you back home safe! We love you!

I'll see you both at the Creek!

Richard playing drums while Aunt Kat and my kids danced!

Oaks taking a turn on drums! Avery and Oakley had such a blast! Alison and I took picture after picture of them all playing!

Avery's First Day of Kindergarten!!

I cannot believe my little girl is starting Kindergarten!!! Where in the world have the past five years gone?!?!? I must admit that it was a little bittersweet for me. I am so excited for all the great things she is going to learn, but I also feel like I am sending her out in the real word and she is so little!!!

Yesterday was Avery's first day and it went great! I owe part of this to Kinder Camp. Last week Avery went to school for a half day to meet her teacher and to learn all about Kindergarten. She was really excited, but when we got there she realized that she didn't know anyone and everything was brand new...needless to say they had to pull her off of me crying! It was terrible! Of course I am a little emotional these days too so it was really hard! I knew she would be okay once they got started with their day, but I still couldn't help but cry all the way home after that!

As I assumed she DID have a great day and couldn't wait for her first day this week. She LOVES it!! The teacher even sent a note home saying she acts more like a first grader than a Kindergartner! Of course she loved that - you know she always wants to be older than she really is! haha! :) Anyhow, I pray that this excitement about school continues through college!!
