I had the most perfect picture for this post, but unfortunately by the time I grabbed my camera I had missed the moment. Oakley had just gotten home from "school" and I see him out on the sidewalk dancing around...next thing I know his pants are at his ankles and he watering my yard! You can be willing to bet that if it is warm enough outside and if he has to pee he is going to drop em' and go. He is definitely all boy!
At three, Oakley is so funny! He is always saying something that keep us laughing! I thought I would share a few things he has been saying and doing here lately.
~The other morning we were sitting at the table eating breakfast and talking about the fresh bouquet of flowers on the table. I asked him when he got big if he was going to give his wife flowers. His response was, "Yes, and I will marry Mommy and then you will be a princess and I will be prince charming." Talk about melting my heart!!
~I was back in the bedroom changing Lakelyn one morning when I heard what sounded like a door shut and then someone going down the stairs. I walk into the living room thinking Oakley had just shut the basement door and went downstairs. However, I can't find him anywhere and he is not answering me. I run outside and yell for him and I hear this little voice yell "what?" from afar. What I had heard was the front door shut and Oakley going down the front steps. For those of you who don't know, we live way off the road out in the country. Thank goodness, because Oakley was almost halfway down our driveway in nothing but his pj's and boots. When I caught him he cried all the way back home and when I asked him what he was doing he informed me that he was going to "Chan-man's" (what he call's his cousin Chandler) and Kyle's house. He honesty about gave me a heart-attach that morning!
~Sometimes he will pretend that he is talking on the phone to someone and Jason and I will hear him tell the "person" in his cute little country boy voice, "preciate it."
~He has such a big imagination and is always pretending he is someone else and we all HAVE to play along. Sometimes he is Bo or Luke Duke and he will run in, look up at Jason and say, serious as can be, "Come on, let's go Cooter." He also loves to pretend to be his Daddy! He told me one afternoon that he had to go to work on his backhoe and track-hoe and then he was going to come in and watch the ball game. For two days we had to call him Jason and when I said, "come here little Jason" he let me know real quick that he was NOT little Jason he was big Jason!
~He loves the old western, High Chaparral. He has been watching with Papaw and Nana. I have to admit I have never seen it so when he came home telling me that he was Big John and Daddy was Blue I didn't know what in the world he was talking about but it sure cracked me up! Again, that was all we could call him for the whole day!
~His obsession with Dukes of Hazard is pretty funny too. Jason was putting his pj's on him the other night and he would NOT let Jason button his shirt up all the way because he wanted to be like Bo and Luke Duke.
~Our good friend's the Johnson's had their new baby girl this past week and I was telling Oakley that Jovie was here. He wanted to know where they got her. So I explained that it was the same as Lakelyn, she was in her Mommy's belly. He looked at me so serious, paused for a few moments then said, "But where's the door?" Needless to say we didn't go into all those details just yet!!
~Oakley ran in the bathroom the other night when I was taking a shower and I noticed that he was just standing there really contemplating something. Finally he said, "Mommy, can you breathe in there?" Poor thing thought you had to hold your breath the whole time you are in the shower!!
~Avery had him playing "Mom and Dad" the other day. All he would do the whole time they were playing was follow her around and tell her "Yes, honey" and "Okay, Honey" anytime she said something. Guess you know how things roll around here! Haha!!
~He says the most sweetest prayers every night at bed time. I just love to listen to them! Tonight he thanked God for his family and his school and then said "Please don't let Ms. **** (we will keep her nameless) be my teacher tomorrow, she is not nice, but thank you for Ms. Amanda." His honesty is so sweet!
~He has been obsessed with this black cowboy hat that Nana and Papaw got him for his birthday last year. He wants to wear it everywhere and we really don't mind most of the time...however he got his first baseball helmet a few days ago for his first season of wiener league. I turned around the other day to see if he was ready to go to the grocery and there he was with that dang helmet on his head. I begged him to go get his cowboy hat instead but he refused. We ended up compromising, he could wear it in the truck on the way, but not into the actual grocery store. He seemed pretty happy with that deal and the good Lord knows I was!
I honestly could go on and one with all things he has said and done lately. What a fun age three is! However, about the only time I can get a picture of him is when he is sitting down to eat!
Eating his chili with a bib on...he decided that he has to have one on when eating chili. I really don't mind since he somehow can make the biggest messes I have EVER seen!
